4 Tips for Brainstorming Blog Post Ideas

If you have a blog, having new ideas month after month is not always easy. When you start, you may have hundreds of ideas to get to work on, but they will eventually run out and you will have to think about more.

Having a constant bank of ideas is great for your blog productivity, so you’ll never be left wondering what to write. Here are some tips to help you move on.

1. Ask other people

Ask your friends, your family, or your current blog subscribers. You can talk to anyone about the blog you are running and see what they have to say. Or just see what comes up in the conversation when you talk about your niche topic. Even if you don’t use your exact ideas, it’s a good way to capture some new thoughts and concepts.

2. Create a large list

Sit back and create a huge list of everything you can think of that relates to your blog. For example, if you are running a furniture blog, you can write about decorating many different places, such as wedding halls and churches, family homes and nursing homes, businesses and offices, shops and businesses, and everything in between. You can write about how to furnish a place for the first time or buy new items.

Give your readers ideas on how to do things, when to do things, and what they can buy to do certain things. And don’t forget to start with the basics too. Even things that seem simple to you can be useful to readers who are new to your niche.

3. Read other blogs

You should never copy content from other blogs, but it is a great way to get more ideas. General ideas cannot be copyrighted, so unless you are taking something word for word or using someone else’s photographs, you don’t need to give credit to anyone.

You may not only get ideas on what to write, but you can also get some tips on how to structure your posts, how to make them more user-friendly, or how to design the page to be easier to read.

4. Use books and magazines

Books and magazines are great sources of blog post ideas. As with the previous tip, make sure you don’t copy anything, just use books and magazines for inspiration. Sometimes all it takes is scanning a table of contents to get the juices flowing. Magazines are also great for finding out what’s popular right now in your niche.
