Eagles and Giants: A Different Story This Time

When the New York Giants came to Philadelphia this year, everyone was expecting the typical NFC East battle. However, shortly after the game started, everyone could tell that this was not going to be the case. A few seconds into the second quarter, the Eagles had jumped out to a 16-0 lead and had the Giants scratching their heads.

The G-men were able to get a touchdown on the board with just under two minutes to go, but the Eagles scored twice before halftime and took a 30-7 locker room lead along with all the momentum. The Birds never looked back from here and went on to win the game 40-17.

Come this Sunday, the Eagles and Giants will be in the national spotlight with a lot at stake. Currently, the Eagles are tied for first place with the Cowboys, while the Giants are a game behind after a solid win against Dallas last week. Now it’s December, and that’s when playoff-caliber teams show everyone what they’re really made of. Both teams started December on the right foot by beating NFC playoff hopefuls and will face each other for the second time this year.

As much as I’d love to see it happen, I don’t see the Eagles going to the Meadowlands and crushing the Giants like they did earlier this year. There is too much at stake right now. I like the Eagles to win this game though. They are bringing back Joselio Hanson, Akeem Jordan and DeSean Jackson, which will only make them stronger. The Eagles’ defense looked great last week against Atlanta, but the Falcons lacked some of their key offensive playmakers. Eli Manning and the Giants’ offense are a talented group, so the addition of Hanson and Jordan will be a huge plus.

Without Jackson, the Eagles’ offense didn’t seem to miss a beat. They distributed the ball very well and got some unexpected contributions from Michael Vick. Jackson is his biggest playmaker and even if he isn’t 100% and doesn’t have the look he usually does, the Giants will still have to pay a lot of attention to him.

I see the Eagles have a great chance to win this game; however, I don’t expect a score similar to the last time they met.
