Lose Weight for the Summer: Lose 20 Pounds in Four Weeks

Ha ha! I just read an article that promises you can lose weight during the summer by spinning in a circle and jumping on a trampoline. I feel so bad for people who read and believe that kind of thing. Do not misunderstand. You can lose weight by making simple daily changes like walking more and eating better, but the fact is, unless you put in some kind of effort, you won’t lose a significant amount of weight.

However, if you only have 10 minutes a day, you can boost your weight loss with some very simple life changes. You don’t need a gym membership. You can eat a lot of good food. And you don’t have to take pills! These life changes are described below.

Life change n. # 1: eat breakfast every day
You absolutely MUST have breakfast. People who skip breakfast are 400% more likely to become obese. Four hundred percent !! The reason for this is because when you skip breakfast, your body’s metabolism just STOPS, causing you to lose your natural calorie burn. Your body believes that it needs to store as much energy as it can to survive, so not only does it feel sluggish, it actually stores more fat!

Eat a banana, some oatmeal, even toast and jam. Just put something on your tummy (good rhyme, huh?) Before heading out the door.

Life change n. # 2: change the way you eat
Over time, you’ll want to give up the fatty, sugary, and heart-clogging foods that increase your weight, but for now, I’m just going to ask you to separate them throughout the day and gradually work on good foods.

Start with breakfast. You’ll feel so much better in the morning when you start with a nice glass of orange juice and a bowl of oatmeal with bananas and raisins. Oooh. Even add a little cinnamon for good measure. Top it with a wheat toast. That’s a great tasting breakfast right there.

Now that you have a good meal, this is how you speed up your metabolism. You can keep eating crap for now, but until you have fixed everything, you are going to keep your meals 3-4 hours apart. Eat small meals that will keep your metabolism racing. This will boost your natural metabolism and help you burn fat fast!

Life change n. 3 – Drink water
The water is so amazing to you. Cleanses your system and removes harmful toxins. Even if you’ve had a bad meal, rinsing it off with water can help you absorb less fat. Squeeze a lemon, lime, or orange in there if you want to add a little flavor. You will lose 5 pounds just from this.

Life change n. # 4: break your muscles
By doing about 10 minutes of solid exercise a day, you increase your metabolism because your body has to repair that muscle tissue. That’s what really burns calories. Walking is good, yes, but it doesn’t burn calories while you sleep. Focus on bodyweight exercises to start, such as push-ups (from the knees to start), lunges, squats, flutter kicks, and leg raises. Over time, you will want to get some small weights to help you burn more calories, but this will suffice for now. Just do a good muscle burn.

All it takes is 10 minutes a day.
