We love to eat tasty, juicy and greasy food, anything and everything that our heart desires or is edible. We do this to ourselves regardless of the news that diabetes is spreading at an alarming rate. Every day the number changes as we consume foods with no nutritional value for the body. Recent information just released from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) shows new estimates that are clearly alarming. Some of the causes are foods like tripe, pig’s feet, fried chicken, fried fish, pickled pig’s feet, and eggs. Many are unaware that eating in a hurry and not taking the time to allow our food to digest are also causes.

Advertisers make food look harmless. Then they pressure the drugs to take them once you’ve eaten that non-nutritional, processed food. With nearly 26 million Americans who are diabetic and an estimated 79 million adults who are prediabetic, a time bomb has exploded: America’s fat with a processed fork in one hand and a needle in the other.

This madness has to stop! First Lady Michelle Obama’s show on obesity and health awareness has brought this issue to light, but who is really listening? We believe that nothing can happen to our body, but we look in the mirror and think in 10 or 20 years. What have you noticed about yourself? We must change the way we eat and realize that some foods are not made to be eaten. With the advent of genetically modified foods, which allow food to be grown at a faster rate, cheaper and without nutrients, you will find even more foods that do more harm than good on your supermarket shelves. Obesity and diabetes affect us all in some way, from family, loved ones, friends, and increasing medical costs.
