Montechoro, Portugal Resort Guide

The Montechoro resort is located in the beautiful Algarve of Portugal, on the outskirts of Albufeira, at the northern end of the famous “strip”. The complex is ideally located to enjoy the fantastic nightlife and the beautiful sandy beaches of the region. In recent years, the complex has undergone great development and now has excellent accommodation facilities including large hotels and apartment complexes.

The busy town of Montechoro is full of restaurants, bars, and shops. When you want some peace and quiet, visit Albufeira’s traditional Old Town, which has excellent fish restaurants and an open-air market where you can pick up a bargain or two.

The golden sandy beach at nearby Praia d’Oura is just 10 minutes from Montechoro. Situated in a large bay, the beach is protected from the elements by colorful sandstone cliffs. Known as Golden Beach, there are many water sports available here, such as water skiing, jet-skiing, windsurfing, paragliding, kite surfing, and the family’s favorite banana boat rides. If you are looking for quieter and secluded beaches and coves, there are many within walking distance of the complex, including the small beach of Praia dos Averios, which has a diving school, Santa Eulalia and Praia Maria Luisa. Diving lessons and excursions for all levels are also offered at the Albufeira Dive Center. Montechoro’s beaches have Blue Flag status for their cleanliness and purity of water. Relax with a boat trip along the beautiful coastline here, while also trying your luck with a fishing spot. Another great way to admire the coastline is by taking a horse ride along the beach on the famous Lustian horses or by taking a ride in a hot air balloon and marveling at the views below. Go on a Seafari from Albufeira Marina to spot dolphins, explore the vast sea caves by boat, and fish the reefs.

Away from the beach there is a lot to do in Montechoro. Activities include bowling, bowling, tennis, and golf. There are many golf courses to choose from, all easily accessible from Montechoro, including the incredible 18-hole Salgados course with its lake features and the 9-hole courses at Pine Cliffs and Balaia. The whole family will enjoy the Zoomarine Park where you can swim with the dolphins, Aqualand with exciting attractions and water slides and the Montechoro Park where you will find a swimming pool complex, mini golf, a play area for young children and restaurants.

There is so much to do and see in and around Montechoro that you will hardly have time to stop and take a breather on your last minute vacation in Portugal.

Whether you are looking for beautiful beaches, a lively nightlife or a relaxing golf holiday, there are always many travel deals available for the Algarve on the internet.
